Tallinn City Museum

Tallinn City Museum is a municipal museum dedicated to preserving, presenting, and researching the rich history and cultural heritage of Tallinn. Established in 1937, it operates across multiple sites, including the medieval Old Town and the vibrant districts of Kadriorg and Kalamaja. The museum currently runs seven unique sites: Kiek in de Kök Fortifications Museum, featuring four medieval defense towers, city wall passages, and 17th-century underground bastion tunnels; Tallinn City Life Museum, housed in a medieval merchant’s house; Museum of Photography, located in a small medieval jailhouse behind the Town Hall; Children’s Museum Miiamilla, in the heart of Kadriorg Park; Kalamaja Museum, in Tallinn’s trendy “hipster district”; House of Peter the Great, the first residence of the Russian Emperor in Tallinn; and The People’s Museum of Tallinn in the Old Town.
